⁸ when he takes vengeance with flaming fire^(A) on those who don’t know God^(B) and on those who don’t obey the gospel of our Lord Jesus.^(C)

⁷ so that the proven character of your faith^(A)—more valuable than gold which, though perishable, is refined by fire^(B)—may result^(C) in praise, glory, and honor^(D) at the revelation of Jesus Christ.^(E)
